Nicot Vertemati Factory Racing at round 3 of the FIM Supermoto World Championship: official comeback for Michael Vertemati
The third round of the FIM Supermoto World Championship marked another important weekend for Nicot Vertemati Factory Racing.
The race took place at the spectacular city circuit of St. Wendel, Germany, which once again provided a truly unique atmosphere. A fast, technical and demanding layout in the heart of the city, with a large turnout of spectators and an enthusiastic crowd that added extra adrenaline to every session. The track, featuring a well-balanced mix of asphalt and off-road sections, posed a high-level technical challenge, further intensified by the presence of numerous wildcard riders, raising the weekend's level of competition.
The event marked the official return to racing for Michael Vertemati, after being forced to sit out the second round of the Italian Championship due to an injury sustained during training.
Although Michael was back on track three weeks ago for the GP of Sardinia in Tramatza, he chose not to race in the subsequent Italian round to fully focus on physical recovery. In St. Wendel, however, he was finally able to take part in the full race program, making his comeback on the world stage with strong determination.
Aware of the demanding weekend ahead, and still not in perfect physical condition, Michael worked closely with the team and technicians to find the best possible setup. He finished qualifying in P22 and the three scheduled races confirmed the uphill challenge: 23rd in Race 1, 28th in the Fast Race, and 22nd again in Race 2.
Although the results did not reflect the true potential of the rider and the team, the St. Wendel weekend marked an important step forward toward full recovery and technical development. The team now looks ahead with confidence to the upcoming rounds, fully aware of the work still to be done, but equally determined to return to competitive form as soon as possible.
Michael Vertemati
The track in St. Wendel is absolutely beautiful, technical and spectacular, and the support from the fans was incredible all weekend. Unfortunately, I couldn't find the right rhythm in qualifying, which affected my position in the races. Starting from the back made it hard to move up and I didn't have the speed to make solid overtakes. We'll analyze the data thoroughly to understand what we need to improve and come back stronger at the next round.
Josef Vertemati, Team Manager
We knew it wouldn't be an easy weekend, but the most important thing was to return to racing at the World Championship and get back into the rhythm. Michael gave it his all, despite the physical challenges and the demanding track conditions. We gathered valuable data and will keep working hard to improve. The season is still long, and we're confident that, with consistency and dedication, we'll reach the goals we've set for ourselves.
